Every Easter Monday morning, hundreds of walkers gather at the Mairie in Lavardin
Organised by the association, ‘Les Amis de Lavardin, with the help of many volunteers from the village, the walk is a huge success every year.
The day before, some of the organisers mark out the circuits of 10kms to more than 20kms- a route to suit everyone’s capability.
The day starts early- registration begins at 7am. Between then and 9am, betweeen 300 and 600 walkers sign up; numbers depend on the weather forecast.Once signed up, the walkers follow their chosen circuit , stopping at the refreshment point halfway. All the circuits converge at this point as refreshments are most important and it is an urgent task to organise and prepare the food in time for the first arrivals.
The walk ends at the Mairie where the traditional ‘comradeship’ drink is served.
